FAQ About Occlusal Adjustment

Q: I am Concerned about taking a tooth away when my teeth fit unevenly, should I be worried?

A: If your bite is not properly aligned, your enamel is already being worn away.  Having the Doctor do precision reshaping reduces further wear.

Q: Does Occlusal Adjustment Hurt?

A: Your tooth enamel contains no nerve endings, therefore there is no pain.  The enamel is the only part of the tooth being reshaped in this procedure.

Q: Does Occlusal Adjustment weaken my teeth?

A: Your teeth are being weakened by the uneven or hard hitting forces placed on them due to an uneven bite.  Reshaping protects and strengthens them by distributing forces properly over your teeth.
